RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

THIS DAY. (Before G. N. Brassey, Esq., J.P.) LUNACY. Robert Kelly, of Hikutaia, was charged with lunacy from the effects of drink, and also with being drunk on Saturday. Sergeant-Major O'Grady said that the defendant had been detained at the station since Saturday last, and had been under the care of a medical man, but had recovered from the effects of drink. Mr J. A. Miller said that Mr Kelly had done a large amount of hard work and business, and the drink he had taken had had more than the ordinary effect. His Worship expressed sorrow to see the defendant placed in the position he was, and trusted it would be the first and last time. He dismissed the case' with costs. Court adjourned.
