Owing to the leave of absence granted Judge Williams, Judge Gillies will take the Otago Circuit. Judge Eichmond will return to Auckland to transact judical business till Judge Gillies returns.
Bishop Stuart accompanied by Arthur Mills, ex M.P. for Exeter, proceeded to the Hot Lakes. Mr Mills afterwards goes to Canterbury.
E. Stout passed through Auckland yesterday, having attended the Land Court at Taupo, on behalf of Kemp, returning through the Lake country. The court adjourned owing to incorrect boundaries.
The latest from the Maori King country states that the Kingites have no sympathy with Tuhi, and they express satisfaction that he did not escape and "take his trouble there."
The following are the latest quotations for the Auckland Cup:—Betrayer, 100 to 80; Foul Play, ICO to 50 ; Lara, 100 to 20; Le Loup, ICO to 10; the rest, 100 to 8 to 100 to 1. Le Loup is a strong favorite for the Dunedin Cup.
