It is understood here that a petition if. being got up at Tapu for the purpose of keeping the station open. The publio of Coromandel heartily sympathise with the. movement, and are surprised that yw do not advooato the same cause for the residents—more particularly as,it it agoldfield and connects the Thanes tad Coromandel. Should anything happen .to the line, what becomes of the communication P It would involve two or three days , to send a lineman from the Thames to this place, whereas, now, if a break oeeurs it is corrected in a few hours.
