The Athenaeum says:—"lt is with regret that we hear it said that the form in which all Englishmen know, and most of them use the Lord's Prayer js no longer to be the form which is to pass current. We shall rejoice, if the report, which is widely circulated, proves incorrect. A greater calamity than such a change as rumor declares to be imminent it would be difficult at tbe present moment to imagine." We are sure that the instincts of the English-speaking people throughout the world will rebel against any such change as that referred to. To destroy the grand simplicity of the language of this universal prayer in deference to the criticisms of a cold classical scholarship, would be hardly less evil than to entirely prohibit its use in the English tongue."
