Melboubne, December 10. The entries for the races on New Year's Day fc.e generally smtll, for the
Champion Stakes there are 40 subscribers. The Australian Team of cricketers leave for New Zealand on 4th January. Saturday. The cricket match between the Australian eleven and Victorian representative team was resumed to-day. The former continued their innings and were all disposed of for 291 runs. Bannerman was run out for 28 runs. Bonnor was stumped for 50. Spofforth was caught for 38. Boyle was caught for 55. The Victorian team went to the wickets for their second innings, and when stamps were drawn for the day had lost four wickets for 197 runs. Sunday. The following Exhibition awards have been made for bulk ale:—First prizeSpeight, Dunedin; Franks, Hokitika, and Ward, Christchurch. Second Prize —Pascoe, Wellington; Cochrane, Danedin ; Speight, Dunedin ; Baynes Wangaratta. Third prize—Strachen, Dunedin. Fourth prize—Manning, Christchurch. For porter (in bulk): —First prize—Vincent, Christchurch; Ehrenfried, Thames. For bottled porter :—First prize—Bargin, Dunedin. Second prize—Manning, Christchurch; Baynes, Wangaratta.
