PERILOUS ADVENTURE OF AN AERONAUT.
The St. Petersburg Herald jut received, contains the particulars of the adventures of the Kuisian aeronaut Kadolph, who ascended in a balloon on the Bth ult., and had been several days reported mining. "The day selected for the flight wm not a good one. the wind being strong and boisterous. My companion was Professor Baraacvsky, of the Meteorological Observatory. On entering the car, I sang oat to the twelve sailors holding it to Met go.' As the men dropped tho ropes, a sudden gust of wind struck the balloon and dashed it against some neigl*o.uring trees, the branches of which tore a hole in the silk before, it had time to rise. I threw out baUast, but to no purpose. The car : drifted along the ground till it approached* f a lake, when I begged the. professor to r leave with his instruments. The sailors running up just then, seised hold of tM : ropes, and enabled Bannovsky^get«ot. They begged me earnestly to do the same, on account of the dangerous position of the .balloon, but I refused. The professor being clear of the car, I .shouted to them-to' let go.' All obeyed vtfca summons except one man, who was iffcried several feet into the air, and te>ped amidst a general Mar of laughter. Ifef this, the balloon sailed along tolerably well, and flew for fifty, minutes through the air. when, the gas being exhausted, it fell near the village of Bootohi.
