CIVIL SIDE.

Defended Cases, mcilhone t. te matabahuna. Claim, £27 16s 9d. Mr Brassey appeared for the plaintiff. The Court drew Mr Brassey's attention to the fact that it was outside their powers of jurisdiction to adjudicate upon the claim, which was too large for them to deal with. Mr Brassey asked the Court to allow him to amend his claim by giving credit to the defendant for £14, which bad been paid since the issue of the summons. The correct amount would then stand £13 16s 9d, which would bring it within the jurisdiction of the Court. The Bench were of opinion that it would be better for, them to adjourn the case for the hearing of the Resident Magistrate. They adjourned the case accordingly until Friday the 24th inst. .
