COUNTY COUNCIL.
The adjourned special meeting of the { above Council was held at the Council j Chambers this morning for, the purpose of! electing a Chairman for the ensuing year. | Mr A. Brodie (County Chairman) pre- j sided, and there, were present—Crs Bagnall, Porter, Deeble, Ihorburn, Greenville, and Coutts. ! Cr Porter proposed that Mr Alexander Brodie. the present Chairman, be the Chairman for the ensuing year. Cr Greenville seconded. Cr Bagnall said: I wish to have something explained to me. Cr Coutts at the last meeting said, that he- had your sanction to propose you as Chairman for the ensuing year, Mr Chairman. You never gave me to understand that you were willing to stand, when I offered my support to you, and I cannot, help thinking that, either you or Cr, Coutts have mislead myself and the other members of this Board. '. The Chairman said he had never given anyone to understand that he should stand for the office. Was there any candidate for the office P Cr Bagnall: No, Mr Chairman, I.have given you my support-from the first. The Chairman, Mr Alexander Brodie, was then unanimously re-elected for the ensuing year. The Council then entered on a discussion of the regulations in connection with the Water Bace. - [Left Sitting.]
