Stone from Te Aroha.
Crashing of Stone from the fiotpiotors. Mr Corbett left Te Aroha on Saturday morning with two tons of stone from the leader in the Prospectors, and about lewt of picked stone. This morning at ten I o'clock fivo head of stampers at the | Alburnia battery were started upon the stone, and in the afternoon the show on the plates was satisfactory. During the day a great many persons risited the battery, and surprise was general at the show of gold in some of the picked stuff. Our contemporary is in error in saying tbat a ton of picked stone was taken out; the particulars as to the quantity giren above are correct.
Mr Corbett has kindly undertaken before leaving the service of the shareholders to superintend the crushing, and when it is finished he leaves for Waitekauri. The picked stuff will be put through with the last of the general dirt, and a cleaning up will take place to-morrow morning.
Although Mr Corbett has not expressed any opinion as to the probable yield, if the return is 10 to 15ozs per ton it should ba considered very satisfactory.
