i This day. - t Mr Singleton, a settler of Otahuhu, riding along the, Sonth road, was thrown from his none and dragged some distance, and when picked up was dead. A carter named White fell from his rehicle and the wheel passed over his leg cutting it in two, so that it hang by the skin. It has since been amputated. The Sonthern Cross has arrived from Fiji. £1,500 worth of securities have mysteriously disappeared from the Bank of New Zealand at Levuka. It is supposed they are mislaid, not stolen. The Board of Health are taking pre. cautions against measles.
