LATEST MINING.
We take the following from the Te Aroha Miner published yesterday at Te Aroha :— The Don claim (Thompson and party) situated on the large burnt spur north of Prospectors' was being surveyed by Mr H. T. Rowe today. Their large tunnel is in about 20 feet, and they have a small leader in the face, which however, so far as we can ascertain, has as yet shown no gold. . , Mr James Liddell, the well known Thames and Ohinemuri prospector, with others, have been prospecting out towards Wairakau. They report several likely^ looking lodes. We are glad to hear that the dispute between MeCombie and party, ileilley and party, Murphy and party has been settled by compromise. We believe that steps are being taken to form a company to work the ground. All Nations.—lt is stated that Mr Dillon has been appointed manager of this claim. ThePukePaeroa and the WaioaProspecting Association have extended their ground, and intend conjointly applying for a lease of. fifteen men's ground as a preparatory step to amalgamation and the forming, of a company. Large bodies of j quartz run through the claims, but none of them have been tested as yet. One of these is identical with the lode from which Mr Gribblle took a trial crushing. The dispute between the Puke Paeroa shareholders and the Limited (Gribble) has been settled, the Puke-Paeroa resigning the disputed ground. The dispute between the United and Ghristey and Adlam has also been amicably settled by a division of the ground in dispute. ■» The Who'd Have Thought It claim, next the Golden Gate, has (yesterday)
struck a small though promising leader, showing gold, which we believe they intend to follow. Morton and party obtained a good loose gold prospect some days ago, so that their locality is evidently auriferous.
McLean and party of the Queen of Beauty struck a reef two feet thick yes* terday, but no gold was seen. Scanlan and Fitzpatrick's interests have been amalgamated,' and the claim is being surveyed. The area will be five acres.
The following is a list of claims pegged out since Monday last :— Totalisator—Six men's ground, north by north-east above Prospectors': G-. Bobson and party.
