GISBORNE.
This day. Mr William Clarke, who floated the South Pacific Petroleum Oil Company, is at present negotiating with Mr Matthews of the East Coast, aud has succeeded in obtaining the consent and signature of a large number of the native owners to a deed of conveyance of a portion of the Eotorautuku Block to him for oil .boring purposes.
The Lochnager has been moved 2CO feet seaward. If tide and wind continue favorable she will scon bo afloat.
