WELLINGTON.
This day. Moffat not Shot. The Times Greytown correspondent writes that on Monday night, while in conversation with Mr Herchbergh who bad then just returned via the Manawatu Gorge from Wauganui. Herchberg told him that on the previous Friday a large number of Maoris kad come down to Wanganui with wool and produce. Some of these had come from J. 09 miles inland from the district wherein as stated, pakeha Moffat was recently shot. He entered into conversation with them and one of them addressing Mr Herchberg said, " Look here, you pakehas ; think Moffat is dead, I will bet you Moffat is not dead. I bet you will see Moffat in two months. He is alive." • .
