AUCKLAND.
This day. The local manufacturers met last evening to consider the question of establishing a co-operative store for the sale of their goods. The following were represented :—Cabinet makers, portmanteau makers, metal workers, shoe makers, cordial manufacturers, 1 varnish makers, brush makers, and others. It was estimated that the expenses of a co-operative store in the main street would be £10 weekly the commission on the retail price seven and a hair per cent, and on the wholesale five. The meeting was adjourned. Lieut. Bower, who commanded H.M.S. Sand fly, and was killed, as reported in Reuters telegrams; was appointed from H M.S. Danae, whilst in Auckland, to succeed Lieut. Home, appointed Sergt.-at-Arms. The Auckland Tattersall's Club has been re commenced by the Racing Club. Gold Discovery at Te Aroha. Gold has been struck in the Waitoki Creek, three miles north of Te Aroha.
