Mining Accident.

A serious mining .accident happened at about 4 o'clock this morning to two men named Edward Copeland and David Downs, employed in the Waiotahi mine. They had just fired a shot, which blew out a prop, and while engaged in repairing the damage by putting in a " soldier," a large fall of earth took.place. Copeland was struck seterely on the right hip and back; Downs was also struck, but was not so much injured as Copeland. The

injured men were at once conveyed to the Hospital, where Dr Hux table was speedily in-attendance and dressed'their wounds.
