A TALE OF THE PACIFIC. • Wm. Opperman, Esq., a wealthy island trader, was for some montjbu lying ill at Happemamma, an island' of the Xjngsp j Group, in the Pacific. He had been seised with rheumatic fever, which was followed by complicated disorders of a terribly severe nature, assuming the form of a species of palsy never before known. The sufferer's limbs swelled, the legs lost all sensibility to pain; the foot could be wrenched round or the skin pierced with a lance without in flicting the slightest suffering. The sick man was evidently unconscious of bis. having legs, and his brain was seriously affected as if with lunacy. In this deplorable state he was kindly brought from the islands to Auck land by Mr H. Henderson in the schooner Coronet, Captain Moeller, and, being a German, he was received by the German. Consul, G. Yon der Heyde, Esq., and placed, in the District Hospital, where he received treatment for, three weeks with no indication of improvement, his case being pronounced by one and, all a hopeless one. » The captain of the Coronet, knowing that extraordinary cures had been effected by the use of Hitohens' Celebrated Blood Restorer, requested the proprietor of the Blood Restorer to take the case in hand, and a contract was entered into of "No cure, no pay." Mr Hitchens proceeded to the Hospital,; examined the invalid and found him in an apparently dying state, with scarcely a spark of life left. Mr, Hitohens ordered the suffering man to be removed to his (Mr Hi) private residence, where his wants could be personally attended to by Mr Hitchens. The latter administered the medioine (the Blood Restore*) and used the ointment freely. Meanwhile clergymen called, pronouncing the case beyond the power oft man to effect a cum. However after six weeks the effect of the medicine became wonderfully apparent. The Blood Restorer had acted steadily but surely en the blood j the deadly impurities were gradually eliminated from the system nntil the stream of life flowed unchecked in its natural channels over the entire man. The brain became clear and active, and the limbs once again rejoiced in natural circulation, the patient rising to his feet cured of diseases which had baffled the skill of leading physicians, a living proof of the. wonderful healing powers of Hitchens* Celebrated Blood Restorer. TESTIMONIAL. Auckland, N.Z. To H. A. H. Hitchens, Esq. Before leaving Auckland on my return, voyage to the Islands, I have to perform the pleasing duty of acknowledging the surprising core I have received at your hands. Coming to Auckland as I did a dying man, being palsied and generally unconscious, and hearing from others that no hope of recovery was held out by medical men, I look upon you now as the preserver of my life. 1 lam convinced that to your medioine alone ig due the credit for my sow being a living man. I beg to thank you most iiinoerely for the kindness you have shewn me while staying in your house, and in conclusion would earnestly recommend sick people to use your Blood Restorer, as it is the most extra* ordinary purifier of the blood I ever heard of, or met with in my travels. It is one of the many good gifts of a beneficent Creator to his suffering children on this earth. . - W. OPPMRMAN. Auckland, December 19,1879. Signed in the presence of G.
