Caswell Sound Marble Company.
We published on Saturday the abridged prospectus of the Caswell Sound Marble Portland Cement and Mining Company, and have now before us the full prospectus which contains a vast amount of information regarding tbe Company's property. To give an idea of the value of company's* property, we clip the following extract from the paper before us I—The Marble area is practically illimitable, and a shaft has been explored about 3Coft. into the White Marble formation, and the further it is gone into the more it seems to improve in quality; after tbe first 50ft. the marble appears to become purely white, close grained, and of the very best quality. The lowest quotation in the European markets for this marble is 12s I per cubic foot, and ordinary kinds for building, monumental and furnishing purposes, up to 100s for the finer specimens; large blocks are, however, much more some of pure white statuary without flaws realising as much ■■ £20,000 sterling in Europe, an ordinary block of the same variety, its Carrara prototype, suitable for a life-size human atatue, being worth about £1000 sterling. Copper and other valuable minerals, rich specimens of which and numerous outcrops are found in various parts of Caswell Sound, we propose testing in a practical manner and eventually mining, should prospects justify. The prospectus concludes as follows:— In addition to the large amount of money thisiConapany will actually bring to the country, it will probably afford remunerative employment to hundreds of men, locating them and their families permanently on what is now an uninhabited waste. The advantage to the shareholders, the Colony, and every one concerned, is now most obvious; and what can prove more conclusively their confidence with the venture than the fact of the old Proprietors agreeing' to take new shares for their present interests and former monetary expenditure P
