It will be gratifying. to oar readers, especially to those who contribute rates to the Municipal Exchequer, to learn that the last of the Water Supply debentures has been sold, the transaction having been negociated by Messrs Frater Bros. The amount of the debenture is £2116, and its disposal at par to the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency shows that that institution ft any rate has confidence in the prospects of the district. We hear that Messrs Frater Bros, hare been unable to negociate the sale of the Harbour Board debentures, the security not being considered so good, while the interest offered is oue per cent, lower tlian that giren in connection with the Water Supply Bonds.
