RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

THIS DAY.

(Before H. Kenrick, Esq., 8.M.)

CIVIL SIDE.

Judgments fob Plaintiffs.

In the following case judgment was given for the plaintiff with costs: — C. Baker v. O'Dowd, claim £4 ss, money due, and costs £113s. Judgment Summons, b -bbext t. adlam. Mr Miller for plaintiff asked that further evidence regarding the defendant's ability to pay be taken. He had some additional evidence to adduce. He then called William Southgate, but that, individual, being evidently inebriated, was ordered to stand down. James Thompson, licensee of the Thames Hotel, deposed to seeing Adlam removing goods from his store, viz., oOlbs of flour, several sacks of potatoes, Eoap, tea, and sundries. Soutbgate helped Adlam to wheel oat the goods. He should say there was about two tons of goods. The store has been kept locked since the goods were moved into it. He subsequently saw the goods moved to the Memsahib steamer, bound for Te Aroha. This would be about a fortnight ago. Adlam did this himself, wheeling the goods on a truck. W. Southgate was then called . and reeled, out of the box. His Worship: You're been drinking this morning. Witness: No, only now and then. His Worship: You're not in a fit state to give evidence. I have a good mind to lock you up. Witness mumbled inandibly, gave a beery grin and reeled out of the box again. His Worship adjourned the case till next court day to procure the evidence of the defendant. ADCOCK V. POTTS. No order made. Court adjourned.
