Fbee Handicap.—A sweepstake of 3 sovs each, with 100 sors added ; one mile —Billingsgate, 1; York, 2; Natatpr; 3. Lara, Talent, Bogardus, Adamanti Larete, Mischief, and Levant also started. From the commencement Billingsgate showed well to the front,, though at one time York looked like winning, and the run in produced immense excitement. Billingsgate caught the judge't eye by a neck, York second, and Natator making a- fair third. !?! {.--, Debby Cup—A sweepstake of 20 sovs each, with 250 son added, for three-year-olds. Colts, Bst lOlbs; fillies, Bst 51bs.« Second horse to . save.. .hi* stakes. One mile and a half. Closed with 39 subs.— Sir Modred, .If Virginia WatM, 2; Badsworth, 3. The Governor, Lure, and Nautilus also started; At the threequarters distance Badsworth went to jthe front, Lure being now second; and Sir' Modred and Virginia W^ter running neck and neck in the third place; Nautilus last. On entering the straight, Badsworth, Lure, and Sir Modred ran in the order named; but the bluo and silver was now coming up fast and hard, and speedily turned the tables. Sir Modred .was landed by a length, Lure second, Badsworth being a bad third. Time, 2mins 33secs. ■; C.J.C. Handicap.—A sweepstakes of 20 sovs. each, with 500 sovs. added; second horse to receive 50 sovs. from the stake; third horse to save his stake; two miles—Le Loup, 1; Piscatorious, 2 ; Foul Play, 3. Koscuisco, Marie Antoinette,
Luna,., Sir George, and Miss Dommett ■also started. Betting was 5 to 4on the field.
Foul Play took the lead when the flag fell, Stead s two lying last. In passing the stand the order of the leaders was— Sir George, Luna and Betrayer, with Koscuisko last. On tbe far side of the course: Betrayer was going up, and the order now was—Luna, Sir George, and Betrayer, a length between each, and it was anybody's race. At three quarters of a mile Luna, had still the.lead, but. at the bottom of the corner the horses were all in a cluster. Betrayer then came away, and, with Piscatorious, made the running. Everybody was looking for the winner in one of the two, when Le Loup, who had been in waiting, was cleverly pushed to the front amidst tremendous cheering. I Time, 3mins. 39|secs.
