News from Fiji.

This day.

By the s.s. Southern Cross news has been received that Governor Gordon is making a tour of the Islands in H.M.S. Danae, and will arrive in New Zealand about the eighteenth insl.

W. J. Hunt, who was prohibited by Sir A. Gordon's proclamation from being within the Navigator group for a period of two years, has brought an action in the Supreme Court, Levuka, against Governor Gordon for two thousand pounds damages. The Court ruled it had no jurisdiction, as Governor he was privileged, and acts, etc., done by proclamation could not be questioned.

Mr Hunt, who is a passenger to Auckland, threatens to bring an action here.

The Wesleyan missionaries of Fiji presented an address to Sir Arthur Gordon, expressing high admiration of his unwearied efforts for the advancement of the native race.

Six hundred and sixty pounds have been subscribed for the DargaviDe race* on the fifteenth inst.
