Volunteering.

There is great excitement amongst the Volunteers about the military displays planned out for the 9th. The right (Engineers), centre (Rangers), and left (Native) Companies of the Thames Force remain, and will parade in their own district to celebrate in a becoming manuer the birthday of England's future King. The Scottish aud Navals proceed to Auckland-for the same purpose. It apeaks well for the Thames that it is able to hare a review at home, and at t'ae same time send a contingent to assist their Auckland brethren in arms. The firstmentioned corps are also deserving of credit for remaining at home, and thus giving the Thames public an opportunity of witnessing a battle, without the attendant dangers. We believe this affair will be v success, as it is .iv good! hands, The companies are expected io muster in utrength at their ovm halls at the appointed time, when each man will be supplied with abundance of blank ammunition, so that a good days roaring of musketry may be expected, and our wives, sweethearts, and sisters, with their attendants, will (should the weather prove favourable) enjoy a pleasant day's amusement. We learn that a repast will be provided for the officers and men on their return to Shortland.
