VICTORIA.

In respect of the recent crushing this compiny, the (question of the necessity of the introduction of an American wagon for use on.^he Waiotahi road again arises, and I heir that the Victoria %ith the Lucks All v and'other Puoga Flat companies intend:agitating the' County Council for a subsidy to purchase one to enable thetn to' get down stuflF at a reasonable co«t. I atn informed that the purchase' of >he wagon and the cost of cutting dowri thd sharp corners of the road woald'nbtexceed £200, while pros* pecting would be encouraged, and these mines now,on gold would N able to send down larger quantities of dirt. In the mine the principal work lately has been the cleaning out and repairing of the old Yale of Avoca company's low level, on which in the early days the reef was driven on for a. distance of two hundred feet. Driving on the ■ reef at low level continues, the lode being at present six feet thick; OLD OOLDEN CALF. The fade of the drfte at present is in alidy country, and the reef has been out oJF by a head or slide. Some little prospecting mil need be done to pick it up •gain. 7 5 .. '' ",'.. .. . Ct/BE.
