We are now putting through a trial crushing from ea intermediate level in Dixon's winie, which, by the show on the tablet, I would oalonjaia, on yielding from l|ozs to Soft to the load; , When Dixon's reef is reached on the 160 feet level, should it turn out as well as I antioi* pate from trial eruthings we have had these will be a fine remunerative blqek of ground to work out. 160 feet level: Stopinghasstill been carried on here/with simiUar satisfsetery results as last reported.' 70 feet level— Hanging-waU leader:, Driving has ; bam carried on here. ■ lie leader has improved in sue and sppearenoe,, but dees not ehow,an gold. I purpose stopping this drive tempoL rarily, a>, t; wish. to sink .a. wines, on this leader, and by continuing the drive it irbuld interfere with the men starting to sink. Stop* ing has also been carriedxm at junetioa of the leader with the Sons of Freedom reef, with "' satisfactory results. Stoping hat also been carried on west, in old •topee, where some good crushing dirt has been obtained. jfc£. tery: The general dirt is showing up for a payable return on Saturday next when I expect to obtain about 6iODBs of gold. Ba£ itery and applianoes are all wouong welL "The trial crushing from mtermediateleval is Dixon's winse, I am happy to say, has eg* eeeded tuy esp*otations. The "nt'gim
accumulated from the 8 loads crushed will give about 28oz» of gold, or an average of S^oze to the, load. I have discontinued this drive until tbe crosscut is extended to the reef on the 160 feet level, as the ground is now much more favourable for driving that croiscut, and better progress can bo made, than hitheftp. Tbe contractors have resumed ■work at JBr per foot for 100 feet, ©r, to cut Dixon's reef. This is a reduction of £1 4s from last contract. ,
; NEW GOLDEN CROWN. 'The manager intends cleaning up for the fortnight tomorrow evening, and a remunerative return is anticipated. There hate been two short delays daring the'fortnight which will make the return less thau it otherwise would hate been. There is nothing new of importance in the mine. '''. . ..-.'■

The mine manager's last report is as follows:— Gentlemen,— I beg to submit the following report;— No. 1 rise: From the top of this rise I had four men breaking out a crushing, but as the lode has not been looking so well as-when I started, and no appearance of improvement, I have stopped work until I have crushed' the stone that I have broken out. No. 2 rise: From the top^pf this rise, after driving 30 feet north in the banging wall of the main lode, I cut a well-defined lode 18 inches in thickness, showing bII the indica. tions with a few colours of gold, and, from all appearances, I believe it will he a good payable lode. Intermediate level: From the face of the drive I have started to .cross-cut for the lode that I cut at the top*f No. 2 rise. I will have to drive about 20 feet to get the reef. When out, I will be able to work to a better advantage than from the top oi tbe rise, and it will give 50 feet more backs to work upon.—Ceab. WimoJT. * .
