Thames Scottish Inspection.
Major Withers inspected the Nos. 1 and 2 Companies and Band of- the Scottish Battalion last night. The usual formula of inspection was not adhered to, and the proceedings were not so interesting as usual to onlookers. A strict examination of the rifles in possession of the members was , made, the condition of the Scotsmen's weapons proving eminently satisfactory. A series of uninteresting circular memo* randa which occupied, in the reading, a considerable time being finished, the parade was called to attention,, and was marched off by fours from ■ right of companies. The officers present were Major Murray, Adjutant Schofield, Quarter-master Symington, Surgeon Callan, Captain Watson, Lieuts. Johnston, Coney, Brownlow, Perry, and Heron. Major Murray notified that forty men from each company of the , battalion having promised to parade for the Auckland Keview on the 9th November, arrangements had been- madd, for the steamer fare of the Naval Brigade and Scottish Battalion. The two corps would leave for Auckland about 8 p.m. on Monday-, the Bth' November, and' leave Auckland, after the review, on the following night about 7 o'clock. He informed «he men, however, that-tickets would be available from the Saturday previous to the Wednesday or Thursday after the review at a reduced tariff.
