I " I CANNOT FORGET." Thou art not forgotten! though far I may roam 1 From the talley when oft we hare strayed, Though now midst the glitter and rush of a town ■ , My part in life's drama it played; Ah! no, in the moments in solitude patted, Thine image ia present to me, An 4 •flection as warmly burns'in my heart As when I fitst parted from thee. As the gold in the hill lieth secret and deep, And no token on surface is seen; As Hie pearl in the shell, and the diamond in 1 Mnri, May baffle the vision most keen; '-■ 80, thought now midst the gayeit I foremost may be^ -. And the mask of contentment mny wear, Yet, search deep ia my. heart for the lote I hare sworn," . And faithful as erer 'tis there. Though hopeless that lore, that affection ia ' ! vain, ■ h ;\ It in absenoe tmt jftpweth more dear; .
