THE LATE FIRE.
(To the Editor of the, Evening Star.) Sib,—The extreme silliness of the rider and resolution passed by the sapient! jurors at the enquiry on the late fire caused me to look at the composition of that body, when lo; I find an ex Borough Councillor as foreman. Then my wonder ceases, and I mentally aayi why not pass a rider to the effect that the Local Authorities should cause whales to be stranded on the foreshore, or that the sun should shine for a longer period' during the winter months; and they might add a resolution to the effect that the Native Minister should have a residence at Batt's Coroner, and for the-future the Supremo Court hold its sittings in south ward. And that a great injustice has been caused by the authorities neglecting to have established' a- Caledonian claim, or even a Moanatairi.—l am, &0., A BusHiuwr <
