THIS DAY. ' s (Before H. Kenrick, Esq., E.M.) ' Jane French was charged with the larceny of a pair of boots the value of 17s 6d from Patrick Kelly, bootmaker, Pollen 'street. '-'■ ' ■"' '■'•'■■ '■" " ' '""■- ■ '■' Constable Cleary, sworn deposed that he remembered having on the 21st a conversation with a man named Maddin, and through such, conversation he went to Kelly's premises and .inquired if he had missed any boots. He afterwards went to Mrs French and found the pair of boots produced under a shawl. - — Maddin deposed thai; he remembered seeing the accused on the 21st of this month inside the Wild Beast Show, when she asked him if he would buy a pair of boots for 6s.

Patrick Kelly deposed that he misled £15 worth of boots. The shoes produced he recognised as his. He did not sell them to anybody, nor did he sell or give them to the accused. He remembered the constable coming to his shop last week, and asking if the missed any boots. He did'not go anywhere with the constable. Francis Jones deposed he remembered handing a pair of boots over to Detective' Farrell. He got them from Mrs French. It was in consequence of a conversation with Detective Farrell that he handed over the pair of boots. The accused said Kelly gave them to her. A second charge was also laid against the accused for a pair of shoes. Patrick Kelly, re examined, said he recognised the shoes produced as his property. .He had not given or sold them .to anyone. He would not convict upon it, and, therefore, the accused was discharged. _______________
