CALEDONIAN.
The manager's weekly report is as follows :r-The south face, on hangingwall ; jClode,No. 1 section, No. 3 level!*'is in 40 feet from the crosscut. There are a number of good looking quartz leaders crossing the face, and dropping into the lode. The stone at the point of junction with these leaders will be tested next week. The lode, where broken down, proves to be of a very open character and throws off a quantity of gas. The course is S. 48 W. No. 2 section, No. 2 level: The face on the lode here is in 52 feet from the point of junction with the No. 3. The stone continues to carry the same appearance, occasionally showing a little gold. Sixteen loads of quartz have been passed through the battery from here, with the picked stone, for a return of 52| OZ3 melted gold. There are again about twelve tons of general quartz and ten pounds of picked stone on Hand. The rise on the specimen, leader,'near the No. 4 winze, No. 2 level, is being logged up anew. The old workings are being secured with very long timbers. There is a fine looking leader. showing in the Kef where the ground has fallen in. Rich gold was formerly found near this place.
