DEMON SPIRITISM AND ITS BLASPHEMY.

(To the Editor of. the Evjnrnr* Stab.) (Concluded from our lait.J Bat the Apostle and Prophet—Paul— gives us of these latter days of evil farther and most emphatic warning .eon*. ;; cerning this devilibh thing. He writer i , thus, and his words prove its Demon '/■, character:—'•'Now the Spirit—Holjr . Spirit—speaketh ixpemsly that in the latter times some shall depart from ha , faith, giving heed to siDUCivo srnm ■ and the teachings op dsmons (Greek V literal translation), speaking lies: in* hypocracy, having - their conseieneta : seared as with * hot iron, forbidding to i;' marry, Ac." Mr Simon of course,Jaa he. -f; comes from the United States, knows ' . .: well the tendency of Spiritism to free low and licentiousness of every description, and we. know from the Bible that iti teachings must make the earth a pandemonium of horrors indescribable. It if a beautiful harmonica!' philosophy of lust, .. robbery, and murder. As Mr Simon told' us at a previous lecture it would be no sin to cut off his head, so a general cutting off of heads would be no sin either, for that is the logical conclusion of hii , reasoning; and we happen to know, front ? Bible prediction, that cutting off headf, after the fashion of the first French Revolution, will become a worldwide, pretty general amusement presently... Oh! what fools' people are when they . forsake the fountain of living waters (the Deity's revelation—the Holy Scriptures)' and hew out for themselves cisterns— broken cisterns, that can hold no living . waters, but which are •hock.full of mud and slime, and filth and eorruptioe indescribable I But Mr Simon reminds us of a namesake of his, and according to his own teachings, for ought we know v ancestor also. We read of this Simon in ■ Acts, chapter 8, and t celebrated Spiritist he was. He bewitched the people of Samaria, but could not succeed in be»

witching the Apostles Peter and John. I Now, the present Simon seeks to bewitch the Thames people after a similar fashion to that used by his namesake of Samaria. Well, if the Thames people are wise, he will not suceed; but if they are fools, he will. Beware! Ta,ke bead! Prove all things as deeply as you will,.but bold fast to that which is good, being sure that it is good; but prove everything by the unerring revelation of the Deity. In conclusion, as we lore our fellow-men, we earnestly press upon all who read this to beware of the delusions and seductions of the present Simon. We have many times advised people to hare nothing to do with Demon Spiritism. Shun it as you would shun Satan himself; it is a serpent within whose fangs is the most deadly poison ; avoid it, or you will be bit, and its bite is certain death, and certain exclusion from the clear Kingdon of God and reign of Christ Jesus — the millennium, or thousand years rest and joy of the earth. Discountenance this evil thing by every legitimate means in your power. We well know that full blown Spiritists must roll on to their appointed goal, there is little hope of them—end that goal is destruction, the Bible tells us this. But if you will, you may do something to prevent your fellow creatures from falling into this devil's own den. First learn from the Bible what this Spiritism replly is a id then act accordingly. Mr Simon in one of his lectures advised people to commence the practice of Spiritism in the family, and we happen to Know that since Slade's prosecution this has been more particularly the advice given, and that through this more secret action Spiritism is rapidly spreading all over Christendom. Family people beware, permit it not if you would avoid its accursed evils, permit it and you will make such a hornet's nest presently of the family as you have no conception of* now. Against. Mr Simon himself we have nothing to say, for we mow nothing about him, but against his blasphemous teachings we shall ever be, and against all such teaching, come they from whose mouth or pen they may. While people persist in believing that man is a dual being and that the Pagan-Papal dogma "the immortality of the, soul" is tiuth, they can ney«r understand what is Spiritism, or dive into its Satanic depths. When man dies he is dead, dead as a door-nail, end absolutely unconscious until his resurrection in a new body. To say that the dead can and do come back again at spiritist seances, and that they are in a conscious state is, according to the Bible, a positive falsehood. The demons personate the dead at these seances, that is the truth of the matter, and hence the teaching is the teaching of devils, and not of the dead. The foundation dogma of spiritism is that man is immortal, that he does not die, and upon this they build all their terrible lies and abominations. Unfortunately all Christendom with few exceptions, believes, this lie of natural immortality, and consequently must fall into the devil's trap if divine power does not arrest-them and that speedily.—l am, Ac, Editor of Enoch.
