A man named George Bevan, cook at a restaurant in Manse street, fell through the skylight into McEvans' store, a distance of 20 feet, to-day, and sustained some serious internal injuries.
Jas. Walls, ironmonger, who left for Melbourne a fortnight ago, broke his leg on the steamer, and died in Melbourne Hospital.
It is said Carrow of Christchurch will probably receive the appointment of Inspector of Railways stores.
The condemned Chinaman Ah Lee now seems to realise his position.
