Thursday. W. Forsyth, employed in Messrs Find lay and Co's timber factory, had a narrow escape this afternoon from instantaneous death. He was working a steam crane, behind which was stacked some large logs, two or three of which became detached and rolled down, one of them striking him on the right leg, breaking the 'thigh, and- contusfag his left elbow severely. The nanowness of his escape may be imagined from the fact that the other lo*c that slipped completely smashed in fie shed at the back of the crane which the man} worked. The logs from *heiv great size and being crossed formed a sort of hollow, in which Forsyth provi/entially lay. He was taken to the hospital, where Dr Keberts protnptty amended to his injuries.
