Oue readers will doubtless recollect that at the last meeting of the Couuty Council Cr Porter moved a resolution re the disputed boundary of the County. It that appears some time ago the: Government granted the Thames County Council £1500 and the Tauranga County Council £2500 to be expended on the construction of a road between Ohinemuriand ILttikati. The Thames Council have expended their money to the boundary of the County, and the Tauranga Council liare carried their portion of the road to a point 2 miles from the termination of the Thames road thereby leaving the section through the Hikurangi Gorge, the most dangerous and costly portion of the road, undone. Each Council asserts that it has reached, its boundary, and if both are right the Hikurangi Gorge must be a sort of "no man's land." We believe, however, that our Council are in the right, as we have reason for believing that the Tauranga Council mistake the goldfields boundary for the division between the two Counties, as the former limit at this point extends about two miles beyond the Thames County boundary line. We trust the dispute will soon be settled, as the road in its present state is not half so useful as it should be.
