ALBURNIA.

The manager reports for the fortnight as follows :—" Mcns of Freedom level.— Lincoln Oastle section : Driving has been carried on here durina the tbnnight. and 28 feet have been driven. The reef tor a portion of the time has been disturbed, but has now resumed a compact ap. pearuucp, being about 18 inches wide, and lookiriß better than it has for several feei. Shortly after taking charge of your mine I took out a trial crushing from the Sons of Freedom reef on this level, about hall way between our pass anrf that now erected by the New North Devon cony *pany It yielded 4 ounces of gold from 8 loads of quartz This r considered not payable with the appliances we then had, but now, havintr a aood plant ot our own, with plenty of crushiiiK power, I ha»e resumed work here with six men. Since we have started the reef appears to improve as we rise, and we have seen some good colours of sold. 160 feet levelDixon's cross-cut: We still continue driving here., The contractors are making good headway considering the nature of the ground, having driven 16 feet 6 inches during the; fortnit-ht. Sloping west below the intermediate level is still being carried on. The quartz here is of payable quality, and we frequently, see colours of Rold, but do not obtain any specimens, Stoping east has also been carried otf, one party of men being engaged at the junction of the specimen leader with the Sons of Freedom reef. The quarta here looks very well, and cvi dently improves as we open up, showing colours of gold frequently. Another party are employed in stopmc.nearer the New North Devon boundary. The quartz here does not look so well, being of rather low grade. ,7.0 feet level.— Hanging wall leader: Driving is still being carried on here, but rather slow progress has been made, as there-are only two men employed. The drive is now in a distance of about 170 feet. The fi st ICO feet was good payable crushing dirt, shpwmg gold whenever the. leader was broken down, but the latter, portion has not been good, being of a very patchy nature. The leader, now. however, looks better than it has for some distance back, with every prospect of its resuming its former quality. Stoping has also been carried on on this leader and the Sons ot freedom reef at "their junction, where during the week we have secured some good specimens and picked stone. Stoping has also been carried on east in the old Btopes, where we obtain a good supply of payable crushing dirt. Bat tery: The general dirt is showing.better than last month, «nd if we stillcontinue to secure as much picked stone as we have been doing during the pBSt fortnight I expect a good payable return at the end of the month. Battery and all appliances are working well.—l am, &c, Thomas Badfobb."
