Naval Brigade Prize Firing.
The Naval Brigade competed for prizes at the Farawai range on Saturday. The prizes were the usual quarterly competition for the Darling Cup, the winner also to count once the winner of Mr Quint's prize (tea and coffee service). The final competition for a set of studs for second class shots, also the final competition for a meerschaum pipe for non-prize-winners It will be seen by the scores appended that the Darling Cup is carried away this time by a comparatively young shot (Seaman Cartwright), who promises fair to be one of the leading carbine shots of the district; closely followed by P.O. W. Frearson, the ex-cadet champion and a representative at the late Eifle Associa> tion meeting at Nelson. The wind throughout the day was very baffling, and unfavourable to good scores being made. The ranges were 200, 400, and 500 yards, 7 shots at each range.
