We are exceedingly glad to hear that the difficulties with which the Borough Council have had to contend in reference to the nine-inch mains, are about to be cleared away. Daring a recent visit of Mr James Marshall to Auckland he made arrangements with Mr Alex. Saunders of that city to dispose of the Water Supply debentures amounting to £213311s Bd, at par. The statement in this morning's issue of our contemporary is incorrect, though we learn on good authority hat Mr Saunders has a fair chance of disposing of them. Should he be successful, the Council will have sufficient funds at their disposal to pay for the mains and expenses incidental to their laying down. We trust that once the funds are available no time will be lost in having this very important work curried out, as at present half the township is at the merer of fire.
