, The Education Reserves Commission divided £702, receipts from primary reserves, as follow* :—£672 to Auckland Education Board, and £30 to Hawkes' Bay.
The civil action, Government r. J. C. Young, a-claim for £1600, balance due to Treasury, has been withdrawn, the accounts baring been referred to the Registrar.
The case Colbeck, . M.H.R., versus Robertson, a claim for £6000, was also withdrawn. The real issue was whether under tho purchasing clause in the lease from plaintiffs, the defendant was bound to sell at the covenanted amount in lease, 12s 6d per acre. The present value of the land is stated to be £3 per acre. ' The basis of the settlement is that the plain* tiffs are to have the land at the original price,, and the defendant to pay the costs.
Joe, the new Hebrides murderer under sentence of death, has been supplied with tobacco.
Mr Moss, M.H.R. intends shortly to meet his constituents.
At a public meeting last night a committee, was formed to raise subscriptions for widow Rees, whose husband was recently murdered. •
