As is shown from the following interesting TALE OF THE^ACIFIC! A TALE OF. THE PACIFIC. Wm.Opperman, Esq., a wealthy islan< trader, was for pome months lying ill' a Happemamma, an island of the Kingsm Group, in the Pacific. He had been seizet with rheumatic fever, which waß followed b] complicated disorders of a terribly seven nature, assuming the form of a species o palsy never before known. The sufferer'i limbs swelled, the legs lost all sensibility t< pain; the foot could be wrenched round oi the skin pierced with a lance without ir flicting the slightest Buffering. The sick mai was evidently unconscious of his having legs and his brain was seriously affected as if witt lunacy. In this deplorable state he wai kindly brought from the islands to Auck land by Mr H. Henderson in the •choonei Coronet, Captain Moeller, and, being t German, he was received by the Germai Consul, G. Yon der Heyde, Esq., and placec in the District Hospital, where he received treatment for three weeks with no indieatioi of improvement, his case being pronouncec by one and all a hopeless one. The captain of the Coronet, knowing thai extraordinary cures-had been effected by th< use of Hitcbens' Celebrated Blood Reßtorei requested the proprietor of the Blood Restore! to take the*case in hand, and a contract wai entered into of "No cure, no pay.'' Mj Hitchens proceeded to the Hospital, examined the invalid and found him it an apparently dying state* with scarcelj a Bpark of life left. Mr Hitohens ordered the suffering man to be re moved to his (Mr H's) private residence where his wants could be personally attended to by Mr Hitchenß. The latter administered the medicine (the Blood Restorer) and used ihe ointment freely. Meanwhile clergymen called, pronouncing the case beyond the power of man to effect a cure. However after six weeks the effect of the medicine became wonderfully apparent. The Blood Restorer had acted steadily but surely en the blood j the deadly impurities were gradually eliminated from the system until the Btream of }ife flowed unchecked in its natural channels over the entire man. The brain became clear and active, and the limbs once again rejoiced in natural circulation, the patient rising to his feet cured of diseases which had baffled the skill of leading physicians, a living proof of the wonderful healing powers of Hitchens' Celebrated Blood Restorer. TESTIMONIAL. Auckland, N.zl To H. A. H. Hitchens, Esq. Before leaving Auckland on my return voyage to the Islands, I have to perform the pleasing duty of acknowledging the surprising cure I have received at your hands. Coming to Auckland as I did a dying man, being palsied and generally unconscious, and hearing from others that no hope of recovery was held out by medical men, I look upon you now as the preserver of my life. I am convinced that to your medicine alone is due the credit for my now being a living man. I beg to thank you most sincerely for the kindness you have shewn me while staying in your house, and in conclusion would earnestly recommend sick people to use your Blood Restorer, as it is, the most extraordinary purifier of the blood I ever beard of, or met with in my travels. It is one of the many good gifts of a beneficent Creator to his suffering children on this earth. W. OPPBRMAN. ♦ Auckland, December 19,1879. Signed in the presence of G.
