MOANATAIET.

The two rock drills are now at work in the tunnel level, the manager having j started the second one in the Morning Star section to expedite operations. The indications so far met with are encouraging, one small auriferous leader having recently been intersected. The Golden Age rise is making but slow progress, owing to the tightness of the ground. In the Point Russell section a new winze has been started below the Creek level for communication with the 100 ft. level. The manager's weekly report is as follows: — "Tunnel level.—Golden Age rise: The only change here is the reef becoming more compact. The stone is blue and tight for progress. On surveying I find we are not quite so near tbe shaft as reported last week. The country been passed through is good for progress, and likely to contain reefs, but nothing of notice has yet been intersected. The second rock drill is working well in the Morning Star section. This is being carried on by two men in one shift. The leader is four inches thick and shows colors of gold. 150 feet level: The contractors are making good progress but there is no change to report. 80-feet level.—ln driving on No 3 reef east from No. 2 slide good payable stuff was obtained, bat it became poorer upwards. Stoping was therefore suspended and a winze started. This is now down 10 feet and. 701bs picked stone have been obtained. Sinning will be continued to ascertain if the leader has been met with in the level below, or whether it junctions with No. 3 reef, it having an underlie in this direction. Point Russell section.— We have started a winze, No. 3, below creek level to meet rise from 100-feet level. There is now about 10 feet to get through. The crushing and amount of picked stone on hand is showing equal to last fortnight.—Bobebt Comeb."
