Beferripg to the operations on the Young American lode at No. 2 level he says :— *' The ground continues favourable here. The lode is about two feet in thickness; in the early part of the week it turned very hungry. It is now showing better. This morning 15 pounds of good picked atone, some of them fair specimens, were bagged, and the general quartz shows payable. Nine loads have been passed through the battery."*
