Saturday's yield, 805 ounces, was '.he produce of 360 tons of general dii-t and a parcel of pickpd s(ono. The usual weekly report of the mine manager is as follows : —" Tunnel level : There is »o change to mention in the Golden Age rise, the uieu having been timbering up. Point, Is ussell: The rise from the 100 feet level shows no change. Nonpareil cross-cut: There remains 20 feet further to dnve_ before getting under shaft: When this is done a permanent rise will be put up to connect with shaft for ventilation, and also as an outlet for quartz from the upper levels. The main slide is not go thick at this point as in other parts of the mine, and only carries the clay on foot wall. We have gone through the slide a distance of 70 feet intersecting various leaders and stringers of a gold-bearing character, which it is my intention to prospect further when communication is effected with the shaft, Morning Star section : A drive is being put in on a leader four inches thick, east from the crosscut, and by continuing this for 120 feet farther, we shall break through to an old level. To push on with this work the rock drill will be used here, as the compressed air pipes are close to the drive. 150 feet level, new crosscut south: The leader referred to in my last report as showing _^ gold, proves to be No. 4 and is 8 inches thick. The crosscut has now gone through it, and will be driven on to our boundary, to further prospect the ground in this direction. The drives and stopes on branches from No. 3 reef show no change, and the workings about here are so much intersected by each other, that I cannot give a detailed account of them. During the past fortnight 360 tons of stuff, including 2-|cwt picked stone has been crushed, the yield from which is 305 ounces retorted gold.—l am, &c , BOBT. COMEB."
