POLICE COURT.

(Before H. Kenrick, Esq., K.M., and Wikiriwhi Hautongo, Assessor.) The usual sitting of the Police and R.M. Court took place in the Public Hall to-day, wheu the following business was disposed of:—

Three natives were charged with being drunk and disorderly, and with resisting the police in the execution of their duty. la conducting the prosecution Mr Kenny made some well-timed remarks, and wished the naires to understand that unruly conduct in the future would not be overlooked as in the past. The native's referred to were each fided three pounds and cost of Court, or three weeks' imprisonment. M. G. Power v. J. M. Coote, damages to a window blind erected ou disputed ground, being portion of allotment occupied by Mr Power for the past &ye years. Plaintiff failed to prove his case, and was nonsuited, but the Magistrate suggested that the parties should employ a surveyor to»den*De their boundaries.

0. F. Mitchell obtained judgment against Haora Tareranui, Pera Eewiti, Hiriwini Waea, and Haora te Mimiha for small amounts.

D. SuodgMsa v. Ahi Pepene. Claim, £9 10s. Judgment by default. J. Phillips and Son v. Keneta Tamati Kiogi, Puratinga, Haora Tareranui aud others. Judgment in each case for amount claimed and costs. John Murphy v. M. G. Power., JNo appearance of plaintiff. Struck out accordingly. « • ', H. Bryson r. John Murphy—Claim £6, hire of a horse. Judgment for plaintiff with costs. A few cases v»ere adjourned to next Court day. Having a short time to spare on Tuesday Mr Kenrick accompanied by Mr Kenny, inspected several pieces of land with a view to making a selection for cemetery purposes, and on his return to the Thames will do all in his power to have the sites set apart for the purpose. AH and sundry that visit us wonder why we have not the telegraph extended to this township, and it is to be hoped the Constabulary will come from the West Coast and uettle the question. As showing the improvement in the roads, Mr John Phillips, junr.,^ informs me he rede easily from Sbortland on the old favorite Potentate in two hours and twenty-five minutes, and is confident the journey cau be dove in two hours.
