Waikaia election returns :—Dunrobin :> Bastings 18, Morris 13; Glenkelich: Bastings 13, Morris 0; Waikaia Plat: Bastings 14, Morris 0; Knapdale: Bastings Is, Morris 6; Waikaia; Bastings 18, Morris 13.

The further returns for the Waikaria election give the following result :— Bastipgs 278, Morris 168.
A man, named John Malleus, committed saicide to-day about two o'clock. He was found lying oa the reclaimed ground near Stuart street jetty, aud suffering great'pain. Dr Maunsell was speedily in attendance, but tbe man died when tbe doctor appeared. Mullens was formerly in the army, baring served' in land transport corps during the Crimean war,'he arrived in the colony several years ago, and started in the blacksmith trade, having his place of business at Tokomariro
for tbo last few years. He has worked intermittently at various planes in Dunedin, was 40 years of age and leaves two children. He is supposed to have taken strychnine.
