JAMES SIMPSON IN ACCORD WITH ENOCH.

(To the Editor of the Erening Star.)

Sib, —It has often been said " there is many a true word spoken in jest," and it may be that the grim, sardonic, rhapsodical satire of James Simpson will turn out to be too true for that would-be witty gentleman. He has involuntarily been compelled to become a preacher of truth through a public journal, reminding me of another such man—Baajam, who on a certain occasion recorded in the Book of IS umbers, was compelled to predict blessings for Israel sadly against his own will; reminding me also of the words of the world's ifedeemer to the Pharisees upon an especial occasion of His public life recorded by Luke—l9th chap.—" If these (His disciples) held their peace the stones would immediately cry out." Ah James, the truth must be spoken, and certainly now in these last days of man's folly, though all the demons of Tartarus (our atmosphere) and the mass of mankind oppose it, aud though all the yet-impri-soned demons of the abyss were let loose to trample it under foot. The truth of: the Deity cauaot be stifled out, it must

come, and James Simpson has positively proclaimed it, William Wood.
