At the R.M. Court this morning, before Mr Kenrick, ar,d upon the information of Mr Mason, John Power was charged with failing fo support his wife, Fanny Power, and family. There was no appearance of the defendant, who had been summoned. Mr Mason stated that Power had remarked that he would not take off his coat to work for any mortal man. His Worship ordered a warrant to be issued for his arrest.

The usual monthly inspection of the St. Q-eorge's Naval Cadets took place last evening in the Naval Hall at 8 p.m. There was a good muster, the lads -numbering 50, under command of Lieuts. White and Ross. After inspection Major Murray complimented the lads on their clean and tidy appearance. He said there was no use in inspecting the arms because they were utterly dangerous for practice at the targets. Th* Government had sent home for a supply of carbines, and no doubt the Cadet* would receive a supply. The District Instructor was there, and exercised the lads in movements.

At the Warden's Court this afternoon, before Mr Kenrick, application was made for,a forfeiture of three men's ground from the Sissy claim, Waiotthi Creek, which containing five men's ground, was only worked by two. Xhe application waa granted.
