THE Evening Star. PUBLISHED DAILY AT FOUR O' CLOCK P.M. Resurrexi. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 1880.

A few issues back in referring to the refusal of the French Republic to participate in the Eastern concert on the Turkish difficulty, we indicated that such action was a menace to the peace of Europe, France probably being actuated by an aversion to act with Germany, whereby she might lose a chance of quarrelling with that country, and wiping out ihe defeats and losses of territory of the war of 1870. France's desire to do this is admitted "on all sides*, her army now being stronger than erer, while the vox populi calls loudly for a war with the Trans-Ehenish Empire, to vindicate the honor of the Gallic j arms. Qur cablegrams to-day however show a decided change in her policy, as we find that her fleet has been ordered to join the combined squadron of the Powers in the Naval demonstration against Turkey at Eagusa on the Adriatic. Although this change ! in tactics does not, we think, indicate an entire abandonment of the bellicose intentions of France towards Germany, it is apparent that the two nations have agreed to sink their animosities until the present phase of the Eastern question is settled.
