Mr Gladstone has caused a letter to be published expressing thanks for the universal sympathy shown during his recent illness. Austro-German Alliance. An interview has been held between Prince Bismarck and Baron yon Haymerle, Austro-Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, which is expected to result in a closer alliance between Germany and Austria. The question of the future of Roumania was discussed by Prince Bismarck and the Austrian Minister, and they agreed to favor the formation of that j Principality into a neutral kingdom. A Strike Twenty-six thousand nailers in Staffordshire, and surrounding districts have struck; Constantinople, September 11. The announcement that was made at the beginning of the week, that the Albanians had agreed to the cession of Dulcigno to Montenegro, is now proved to have been premature. The Albanians are still hostile, and frequent collisions occur with the Turks. The cession, therefore, is still further delayed.
