In the Public Works Bill passed hat session provision has been made to hare the Tararu tramway handed OTer to the Borough. It will be remembered that a difference of opinion existed between certain parties over this tramway. The Bank of New Zealand had a lien of some soft over it for money advanced on its construction, and the County Council thought it had a claim to it, considering it a portion of the tramway that connected with the upper Tararu Valley. However, the matter is settled now for tli3 following clause provides for the Borough having it on the 31st day of August next, the expiration of the term of ten years for which a lease was granted by the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, upon the condition that at the end thereof the line was to be assigned to the superintendent in good order and condition with the exception of the rolling stock, which was to be taken at a yalua tion :—"And whereas the Council of the Borough of Thames have applied that the said tramway should, at the expiration of the term aforesaid, ho handed over to the «aid borough in consideratioa of the expenses they have incurred in connection with the said tramway, »nd it is expodieut that the said tran*way should be rested in the e»id borough: Be i,t tjberofore enacted as follows:—At the time proper for filling the hereinbefore recited condition relating to the assignment of
