The Pumping Association.

A meeting of gentlemen interested in the Pumping Association was held at Auckland' on Friday, Mr T. Peacock in the Chair. -The Chairman explained that the meeting was an adjourned one, und now that the Government had given the County Council power to contribute to the expenses of pumping, it might bo well to ask Mr Brodie, the County Chairman, who was present, whether the County would take the 16th share as proposed. Mr Brodie said the County would contribute £40 a month, provided the pumping was carried on to the 400 feet level, but they would insist on having'a voice hi the management, and that the County Chairman was to be their representative. In reply to Mr Lennox, Mr Brodie said the County could only pay from the passing of the Act. Some conversation then took place as to the shares in the proposed new company which each company should tako up, and it was finally agreed that the balance of the shares should be divided pro rata. After discussion the following resolutions were adopted :—" That a company be formed to take over the property and plant in connection with the Big Pump as bought from the County Council by Mr Comer, and now owned by the Moanatairi Goldmining Company (Registered) for the ■»** cost to them up to date, for the pvpose of carrying on pumping operations." " That the name of the company be the Hauraki Pumping Company (Limited), to be registered under the Joint Stock Companies Act, 1860. Capital, £50CD, in 1000 shares of £5 each ; £3 per share paid up." " That the following gentlemen be the first directors : One representative from each of the following companies and a representative from the County Council and Borough Council while contributing: "Messrs C. J. Stone, T. Peacock, J. M. Lennox, C. Alexander, R. McDonald,. P. Larkins, Gv Williamson, and G. S. Eissling." "That Mr F. A. White be appointed secretary pro tern." At a directors meeting held subsequently, Mr Peacock was elected Chairman, and the secretary was instructed to write to the Thames Borough Council, stating that provided they contributed they would have a seat in the directorate.—(Abridged from Saturday's Herald.)
