HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

THE PROROGATION.
Parliament -was prorogued at 2.30 today. On the House meeting, Major Atkinson said the report in Hansard of his speech on the Beer Duty Bill was so incorrect as to be quite unreliable. BUSINESS OF THE SESSION.
The Speaker laid on the table a schedule of the work of the session, showing that 79 public bills had been assented to and one reserved for the Queen's a3sent, and a number of private bills assented to. Seventy-three bills had been dropped, and 383 petitions presented to the House. The House sat 524 hours on 64 days, giving a daily average sitting of 8 hours 20 minutes, and 632 questions had been asked.

In the Legislative Council, on meeting, Hon. Mr Whitaker laid on the table a return of the Justices of the Peace who Lad been insolvent, which was ordered to be printed. The Commissioners for prorogationSir W. Fitzherbert, Hons. F. Whitaker, G. M. W.aterhouse, John Johnston, and Col. Whitmore—then sent for the members of the Lower House, and on tbeir attending declared Parliament to be prorogued till Wednesday, the first of December next.
